About Us

In addition to sports training, Special Olympics expanded to include educational programs that empower students to foster a socially inclusive school culture emphasizing acceptance, respect and human dignity.  This initiative was launched in 2008 as Project Unify but is now called Unified Champion Schools (UCS).

Special Olympics Oklahoma recognized Edmond North as leaders and agents of change by meeting three major goals of the UCS mission. The criteria for becoming a Unified Champion School was comprised of three Unified Strategy components involving Unified Sports, Student Leadership and School-wide Awareness.  Edmond North accomplished those goals and was awarded the UCS title and a financial grant by Special Olympics Oklahoma in 2017.
